Warehouse heater installation in Reading

The job

The customer runs a warehouse in Reading that was heated by an existing cabinet heater. The heater had failed and was beyond economical repair, so patching it up again was never going to give the building reliable heat. What they needed was a new warehouse heating system: something sized properly for the space, safe to run, and sensible day to day in a working building. We were asked to look at the site, work out what the building actually needed and replace the old unit.

What we did

We began with a heat loss calculation on the building, so the new heater was sized to the space rather than guessed at. On those figures we recommended a Powrmatic LX90 gas fired unit heater along with two Powrmatic destratification fans. We attended site, removed the defective Benson cabinet heater and installed the new gas fired unit heater at high level with its flue run out through the wall. The two destratification fans were fitted at roof level to bring the warm air that naturally collects up in the roof back down to floor level, where it is actually useful. The new heater was commissioned as per manufacturer specifications and a gas safety inspection certificate was issued on completion.

The result

The installation took a day and a half from start to finish. The warehouse now has a heating system matched to the building, with the warm air moved evenly around the space instead of sitting up in the roof. Because we fitted a hanging unit heater rather than another floor standing cabinet heater, the customer has gained usable warehouse space back, which counts for a lot in a working building. The customer was happy with the end result. Warehouse heating in Reading is the kind of commercial work we take on regularly.
